Unfamiliar: Netflix's New Cat-and-Mouse Spy Thriller
Unfamiliar is a brand-new Netflix series already climbing the charts. It follows ex-spies Meret (Susanne Wolff) and Simon (Felix Kramer), who run a safe house in Berlin and must fend off assassins, ex-lovers, Russian agents and other threats while trying to keep their marriage intact.
The trouble begins on their daughter’s (Maja Bons) 16th birthday, giving the family plenty to handle. The first season dropped in its entirety on February 5 and spans six episodes of roughly 50 minutes each, adding up to five hours and 12 minutes—short enough for a weekend binge.
The show landed at number seven on Netflix’s U.S. chart just a day after release, placing ahead of recent arrivals like the comedy Free Bert and the Mike Epps stand-up special Delusional. Unfamiliar has not yet broken into the global top 10 but is trending in countries including Bulgaria, Denmark, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, and Vietnam.
