USWNT and NWSL players praise Crystal Dunn after retirement
Crystal Dunn announced her retirement after a 12-year senior international career and a decorated club journey that included spells at Chelsea, Washington Spirit, Gotham FC and PSG. Teammates at NWSL Media Day responded with surprise and admiration, noting her honours as a World Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist and former NWSL MVP and her 160 USWNT appearances.
In a statement provided by U.S. Soccer Dunn said, "I leave the game with a sense of peace and deep fulfillment for all that I’ve accomplished," and that she was "very much looking forward to my next chapter ahead." Players reflected on Dunn’s personality and influence.
Mallory Swanson recalled missing her "dancing in the locker room, her DJ vibes," while Trinity Rodman called her "one of the G-O-A-T-S of soccer" and described a strong rapport with younger and older teammates alike. Sophia Wilson and Olivia Moultrie highlighted Dunn’s example for players balancing motherhood and elite sport.
