Valve revises Steam Machine pricing and timing amid memory shortages
A report from Gamesradar says Valve's Steam Machine is expected to be costlier than initially thought due to a 'rapidly' increasing shortage of storage and memory.
Valve's update on the Steam Hardware lineup, announced in November, says it had planned to reveal pricing and release timing by now, but the ongoing and unprecedented memory chip shortage disrupted those plans.
The update says the shortage has been worsened by a surge in demand from AI data centers, citing the International Data Corporation, and that this has thrown a wrench into the company's timing and pricing announcements.
