Walmart promo image hints Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime: Echoes for Switch Online
As spotted by Nintendo Life, an image on Walmart’s Nintendo section appears to show GameCube box art for Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime: Echoes. The image is part of an "Unlock more" promotion that sells a $35 gift card said to unlock the Nintendo Online Family Membership subscription deal.
Neither Pikmin 2 nor Metroid Prime: Echoes are listed among Nintendo’s current GameCube collection for the subscription service, which Kotaku says includes just eight games and most recently added Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. The promotional image also shows other classics such as F-Zero, Donkey Kong Country and Mario Kart 64.
Kotaku notes GameCube titles on the service are exclusive to the Switch 2 version of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, and only a small number of new games have been added in the service’s first year on the new console. The collection already contains titles like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Luigi’s Mansion, alongside more unexpected picks such as Super Mario Strikers and Chibi-Robo: Plug Into Adventure!
The article highlights that adding many of the best GameCube games is complicated for Nintendo because it could undercut remasters or new sequels, listing candidates like Kirby Air Ride, Mario Party 4–7, Animal Crossing, Mario Power Tennis, Metroid Prime, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Mario Sunshine.
