Wayne Rooney slams United Strand haircut stunt
Wayne Rooney has lashed out at The United Strand for taking the focus away from football with his viral haircut challenge. Manchester United fan Frank Ilett vowed not to cut his hair until the Red Devils win five matches in a row, but Rooney says the stunt has become a distraction and that attention should be on Michael Carrick's team.
West Ham ended The United Strand's hopes of a trim with a 1-1 draw, after substitute Benjamin Sesko's stoppage-time equaliser. Ilett was left disappointed by the result but said his social media challenge will keep raising money for charity: "The longer the better for charity.
I don’t want this to be about me at all and I’m sure that it probably will be, but it is still unbeaten and good form." On the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast Rooney said: "I'd put him to the other side of the country. He is doing my head in. We are talking about Michael Carrick and Man United trying to win their fifth game in a row and the whole thing is about this guy getting his haircut.
