West Virginia sues Apple over iCloud and child sexual abuse material — NYT > Technology

The West Virginia attorney general sued Apple on Thursday, alleging the company knowingly allowed iCloud to be used to store and share child sexual abuse material. It is believed to be the first lawsuit filed by a state or federal agency against Apple over the issue.

In a 52-page complaint, the state says Apple declined to use tools that recognize photos and videos containing such material, facilitating its spread and violating state consumer protection law. John B.
