Weston McKennie named Juventus Player of the Month for January
In a report from Goal, AFP said U.S. men’s national team midfielder Weston McKennie was named Juventus’ Player of the Month for January after scoring three goals in seven appearances.
McKennie, 27, opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw with Lecce and added goals in wins over Cremonese and Benfica. He started every match in January, logged a full 90 minutes on five occasions, and played a key role as Juventus won four of their seven games and lost only once. His goal against Benfica underscored his influence in Europe, and he now has six goals in all competitions, matching his highest single-season total set in 2020-21.
Despite his form, McKennie’s long-term future in Turin remains unresolved. With his contract set to expire in June, negotiations are approaching a critical stage amid reports he is seeking a significant salary increase while Juventus’ offer falls short. AC Milan and Roma are reportedly monitoring the situation as potential suitors should he become available on a free transfer.
