Who is Sasaki in Jujutsu Kaisen?

The seventh episode of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 opens on a disorienting scene: a young woman lying in a pitch-black void who wakes to Kenjaku explaining she’s inside a Culling Game colony barrier. She is roused by a classmate shouting her name—Sasaki—a character many viewers haven’t seen since the series premiere, which makes revisiting episode one feel especially worthwhile.

Setsuko Sasaki was one of three members of the Sugisawa Third Municipal High School occult club alongside Yuji Itadori and Takeshi Iguchi. She’s easier to miss now without her glasses, but she plays a pivotal early role: she unwraps the seal on Ryomen Sukuna’s finger and becomes the first person Yuji saves, setting his path in motion.
