Despite the 2022 film’s streaming success — it was the biggest movie on streaming in May 2022, earned critical praise and won an Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie — Disney has not announced a series continuation of Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. Given those results, the absence of a follow-up feels conspicuous.

One clear option would be a straight continuation of the original 1988 cartoon. In the 1980s and 1990s Disney repurposed classic characters into new formats — Goofy in Goof Troop and Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales — and turned Chip and Dale into private detectives.

Rescue Rangers itself began as a reworking of a planned follow-up to The Rescuers, with creators Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove expanding Chip and Dale into a leader-and-sidekick duo supported by Gadget, Monterey Jack and Zipper. Alternatively, the show could be modernized the way DuckTales was in 2017: updated character designs, high-profile voice casting and careful preservation of the original theme.
