Why it took so long to ban cheaters in Arc Raiders
Until it was patched last week, Arc Raiders had a duplication glitch that let players infinitely copy nearly any item. The exploit spread quickly after several streamers, including TheBurntPeanut — one of the game's biggest content creators — demonstrated how to do it.
Embark Studios has begun taking action against those who benefited from the exploit, but the team said its responsibility was to act 'with fairness and accuracy.' It added that it can only take action it can 'define, prove, and stand behind,' a process that includes validating reports against data and confirming exploit usage, scope, and effect.
The studio said the delay stemmed from this being the first time they've 'handled an incident of this nature at such scale in Arc Raiders.' Rather than rush, they chose to take the time needed to fully understand the situation and ensure the response aligned with their values and expectations.
