Wildlight’s Highguard patch cuts crashes 'by 90%' and adds performance controls
Highguard’s first major patch is live after the shooter’s launch earlier this week, and developer Wildlight says the update is focused on performance — claiming it “reduces crashes by 90%,” “gives better performance control,” and “significantly” improves overall stability.
The game’s rocky debut followed a puzzling trailer at The Game Awards 2025 that critics said failed to distinguish Highguard from other live‑service shooters, and the title opened to poor reviews and lacklustre player counts.
One of the most common player complaints has been that Highguard simply doesn’t run well, even among those who otherwise enjoy the game. Wildlight’s first patch is largely performance‑shaped in response to that feedback.
Wildlight said it was “listening to feedback” and released the update aimed at addressing crashes, stability and performance tuning rather than other gameplay or content issues raised at launch.
Whether the performance fixes will be enough to shift critical reaction or attract larger player numbers remains to be seen; Wildlight has not laid out further steps beyond the initial patch in the reporting available.
