Will Trent Season 4 Episode 4: Poisoning Case Forces Him to Confront His Heritage
In Season 4, Episode 4 of Will Trent, titled "The Man From Nowhere," Will (Ramón Rodriguéz) and Faith (Iantha Richardson) investigate the sudden death of a dancer, Catalina, who collapses at a nightclub after an afterparty. The episode centers on the poisoning case while also surfacing Will’s insecurities about his Puerto Rican heritage and his limited Spanish.
The GBI holds everyone at the club as Will and Faith dig in. They learn Catalina was poisoned via her makeup, Roxy (Itziar Martinez) is the initial suspect, and Javi — Catalina’s dance partner and former partner of Roxy — confesses but appears to be protecting someone. Bon Bon Chiffon (Jonny Beauchamp) returns and provides comic relief while filling them in on dancer drama.
Will’s discomfort interviewing predominantly Spanish-speaking witnesses prompts a therapy scene with Dr. Roach (Margaret Cho), where he says the case brings up feelings of not belonging after only beginning to reconnect with his heritage two years earlier. The episode ties that insecurity to his upbringing and the loss of his mother (Raiany Silva), and it frames what Ulster (Greg Germann) took from him.
The investigation points to diplomat Ramos Delgado (Juan Javier Cardenas), whose wife Isabela (Carolina Gomez) was planning to leave him for Roxy. Will links Ramos to a prior poisoning and tricks him into confessing while Faith listens in secretly; the team is then able to implicate Ramos and strip his diplomatic immunity.
