Ahead of Wonder Man’s Disney+ premiere, co‑creators Andrew Guest and Destin Daniel Cretton broke down the series finale, "Yucca Valley," in which Simon Williams infiltrates a Department of Damage Control holding facility and uses his powers to break Trevor Slattery out.

Guest said the show intentionally avoids a bombastic superhero climax common to other MCU series, instead centering the finale on personal sacrifice: both Simon and Trevor make choices to save someone else, and Simon uses his actor skills and planning rather than a big fight.

Cretton credited Sir Ben Kingsley for keeping Trevor in the MCU and allowing the series to give the character deeper layers and a redemption arc. The season shows Trevor donning the Mandarin persona again to take the fall for Simon and ultimately being the focus of a heartfelt rescue.

The creators also acknowledged the series’ willingness to take tonal risks — from standalone episodes that shift perspective to meta Hollywood jokes — and noted Marvel was on board with that approach. Within the story, the in‑show Wonder Man movie premieres to positive reviews while Simon remains determined to learn what the DODC did to his friend, leading him to shadow a security guard as part of his plan.

As for what comes next, Cretton said, "We all want a Season 2," while Guest noted future appearances are up to Marvel and will depend on whether audiences connect with Simon Williams.
