Wonder Man has opened with a 91% audience Popcornmeter score — the highest for any live-action MCU series — as all Season 1 episodes arrived on Disney+ on Jan. 28, MovieWeb reports.

Critics had originally scored the show around 94% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer before it settled at 90%, the report says.

The 91% audience rating tops previous live-action MCU entries and, when considering all MCU series, ties X-Men '97; it also surpasses WandaVision's 88% audience score, which had been seen as a benchmark for Marvel TV.

MovieWeb notes audiences and critics praised the series' low-key, character-driven approach, which centers on Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley's returning Trevor Slattery. Critics hailed a "charming odd-couple" story — New York Times' Mike Hale even compared the leads' relationship to Midnight Cowboy — and reviews called it a "fresh take" and "one of the best Marvel Disney+ shows by a mile."

While there have been suggestions that a second-season path has been discussed, MovieWeb says it is currently unclear whether that will happen; the outlet adds that Marvel Spotlight series often focus on telling a specific one-shot story, and if viewership matches the series' reviews future appearances remain possible but unconfirmed.
