Gamesradar reports the MCU's new streaming series Wonder Man nearly became a "tax write-off" during early production, director Destin Daniel Cretton said.

Cretton said at a live event (via Laughing Place) that production was "halfway through ours" when 2023's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes temporarily shut down the US film industry, and added, "it could have been a tax write-off for Disney, but I know for a fact that the people who were producing this show, like Brian and all of our amazing team there, were fighting their asses off to make sure that we came back and finished this weird, melancholy show. That, you know, was a big, big swing for them."

The series is a hit among critics, and Cretton's remarks described its unlikely path to completion amid the strikes. The report does not provide further detail on production decisions beyond his account.
