Pcgamer reports that World of Warcraft's Midnight expansion pre-patch stat squish has left several low-level potions and food items doing nothing, with some even showing as restoring "-0 health".

The article explains that a stat squish—used to clamp inflated damage and other numbers in long-running MMOs—should keep things proportionate, but in this 21-year-old game some items have become skewed. Among the examples is a healing potion a new player might pick up that reportedly does nothing: the author says they spent sixty gold on a negative-zero-health potion, gained no health, and saw no entry in their combat log.

The bug is highlighted as a potential problem for onboarding new players, and the piece says hopefully potion sellers will re-strengthen their wares soon; otherwise new characters may be left drinking strawberry juice for the rest of time.
