Wrexham have been urged to target two Liverpool legends — James Milner and Jordan Henderson — to boost their push for promotion after co‑owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney delivered a £48m cash injection, former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister said on Jan. 28, 2026.

The Welsh side sit sixth in the Championship following back‑to‑back promotions and a recent win over QPR put them in the top six for the first time this season. Manager Phil Parkinson said the team must keep its focus, warning that form can quickly change in the division.

McAllister told OLBG that Wrexham could look for players with extensive Premier League experience, suggesting Milner or Henderson as examples of “an old head sat in the middle of the park” who would be a big plus for the club. Owners Reynolds and Rob Mac have said they dream of seeing Wrexham in the English top flight.

Parkinson has said outgoings will be needed before arrivals and that there are inquiries and talks taking place. He named players he is concentrating on — including Brunts and Aaron James — and highlighted options such as Lewis O'Brien and Sam Smith as part of his current plans.

The winter transfer window closes on Feb. 2 at 19:00 GMT, and Wrexham will next travel to Sheffield Wednesday as they seek to strengthen their promotion bid. It remains unclear whether the club will sign experienced midfielders like Milner or Henderson before the deadline.
