Yamal misses training and Ter Stegen leaves Saudi camp ahead of Super Cup semi
According to Goal, Barcelona's preparations in Jeddah for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final were disrupted 24 hours before kick-off when teenage forward Lamine Yamal sat out the final training session with a "general feeling of unwellness" and veteran goalkeeper Marc‑Andre ter Stegen left the Saudi camp after sustaining an injury.
The club has not issued a formal medical report on Yamal, who remained inside the facility to undergo "specific work" in the gym as staff manage his load; the decision appears to be a precautionary measure and mirrored a similar absence before the Espanyol game, when he still started and completed the match. Ter Stegen, 33, was injured in a training session earlier on Tuesday and, the club said, has already flown back to Barcelona to undergo urgent medical tests.
Hansi Flick has called up United States under-20 goalkeeper Diego Kochen, who will fly immediately to Saudi Arabia to serve as third choice behind Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny. Ronald Araujo trained with the group but Flick confirmed he will not feature in the semi-final; the severity of Ter Stegen's injury is unknown and it is not clear if it is linked to his previous knee surgery, which could complicate any potential January move.
