YouTube partially down after recommendations error

YouTube is struggling at the moment. Although videos can still play and some pages load, attempting to browse the site returns "something went wrong" errors.

DownDetector recorded a huge spike in reports—340,000 at the peak—so if you're experiencing problems, you're not alone.

YouTube has confirmed the issue is being looked at. YouTube elaborates: "An issue with our recommendations system prevented videos from appearing across surfaces on YouTube (including the homepage, the YouTube app, YouTube Music and YouTube Kids). The homepage is back, but we're still working on a full fix – more coming soon!"

For now, some parts of the site are available while the company works on a full resolution.
