The Holy Qur’aan is blessed, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “(This is) a Book (the Qur’aan) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.”[Saad 38:29] Whether he comprehends its meanings or not, a man will be rewarded by reading it. However, a believer should not read the Qur'an at a time when he is accountable for his acts without understanding. If someone wants to learn medicine, for instance, and studies medical texts, he will not be able to learn anything from them unless it is made clear to him what they imply. He would certainly be eager to comprehend what they are saying so that he might put it into practise. What about the Book of Allah, which offers advice to everyone and is a means of healing for what is in people's hearts? What if someone reads it but does not comprehend it or consider its implications?
