The spike in mercury resulted in freshly laid bitumen melting on a 200 meter stretch connecting Chandra Shekhar Azad bridge to Adajan Patiya in Surat. The melting bitumen forced vehicle riders to drive cautiously to avoid getting slipped. Pedestrians too complained of their footwear sticking to the road.
