Katherine Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. She pursued her religious music career in her teens after singing in church since she was a child. Perry was signed to Redhill Records and she released her debut studio album, Katie Hudson, under her real name in 2001, but did not find her commercial success. After Red Hill went out of business the following year, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her secular music career, where she continued her work with producer Glenn Ballard, Ph.D. She's Luke and Max Martin.
