Emotions are an integral part of human life. One of the most complex and complicated emotions is jealousy.
Jealousy is an uncomfortable feeling that arises when a person feels that the success, relationship, or happiness of another person threatens his position.
Jealousy is a complex feeling that triggers various emotions, ranging from suspicion, anger, fear, to shame. This feeling can be experienced by anyone, be it young or old, male or female.
Feelings of jealousy usually come when a third person comes and is felt to disrupt the stability of your relationship with something you love. The threat that comes out of this third person is actually not always real.
Not only about love, jealousy can also occur in friendships, relatives, to work or professional relationships.
TYPES OF JEALOUSY
Jealousy can happen to anyone, anytime, and anywhere. There are several types of jealousy among others:
1. Jealousy in relationships between people
This jealousy stems from the fear that your partner, relative, or friend will replace you with someone else and form a new relationship.
2. Jealousy of social status or position
This jealousy often occurs in the workplace, and is usually related to competition with each other.
3. Abnormal jealousy
Abnormal jealousy can also be called extreme jealousy. Usually, this has something to do with mental state
CAUSES OF THE APPEARANCE OF JEALOUSY
Jealousy usually starts from a fear of loss. If it can be controlled and interpreted more deeply, this feeling can actually be used as a sign that you need to evaluate relationships with your partner, relatives, or coworkers.
If jealousy that arises excessively, then the cause is from within our own envy, including:
1. Low self-confidence
2. Unstable emotions and prone to anxiety easily
3. Feeling insecure and eventually leads to possessive behavior
4. Too dependent on the partner
5. Feeling inappropriate in a relationship
6. Feeling excessive fear that your partner will leave or not love you anymore
SIGNS THAT YOU'RE FEELING JEALOUS INCLUDE:
1. There is a feeling of anger when there are people who interact with things you enjoy
2. Get angry when your partner or friends can't spend time with you
3. Can't feel happy when a coworker gets something you also want
4. Feeling dislike for new people who enter love life, for no apparent reason
5. Feeling very sad when thinking about a partner, friend or relative
NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF JEALOUSY
1. Causes conflict, emotional imbalance can even lead to violence in romantic relationships.
2. Excessive jealousy can also damage one's self-esteem and hinder personal growth.
HOW TO OVERCOME JEALOUSY
1. Recognize and Accept Emotions
First of all, it is important to recognize that jealousy is a natural emotion that anyone can experience. Acknowledging and accepting those feelings is the first step toward recovery.
2. Avoid activities that are likely to trigger jealousy. For example, unpacking the contents of your partner's social media, flipping through the contents of messages on their cellphones, or finding out excessive info about them.
3. Try to improve yourself in order to increase self-confidence. Working on your own confidence is an important step in overcoming jealousy.
4. Improve communication with spouses, friends, or work partners.
Talk honestly and openly to your partner or the person you're jealous of.
Good communication can help build trust and reduce jealousy.
