A new video that has gone viral on social media shows Russian troops in Ukraine refusing to fight in what one of the soldiers calls a “meat grinder”. WarTranslated, an independent brand, shared a video of the group allegedly from Russia’s "Storm Company" brigade. One of the soldiers said that they had close to 150 men when they arrived for the war, but now they numbered only 20. The soldier said his unit was not provided with food, water, or sufficient ammunition. The Wagner group continues to recruit new members in Russian cities despite the Kremlin’s crackdown, the BBC reported on June 29. The BBC reported that the staff of several military recruitment centers were told that "nothing has changed". Those who responded specifically said that the new contracts are not being signed with the defense ministry but with the group itself. However, Russia has already announced that the mercenary group will no longer take part in the war in Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin praised his country’s economic growth despite facing Western sanctions on June 29.
