Russia-Ukraine War Why Poland Snubbed Germany’s Patriot Missiles Offer
Poland has rebuffed Germany’s offer to send Patriot systems to Warsaw and urged Berlin to send them to Ukraine instead. While Ukraine welcomed Poland’s proposal, Germany said that the missiles are strictly intended for Poland, a NATO partner. The German Defense Minister explained that if the systems are used outside the NATO area, then it has to be agreed with NATO allies beforehand. If Patriot systems are sent to Ukraine, Germany would also have to send its soldiers to operate them. This would mean that NATO would get directly involved in the war with Russia. Is NATO spooked over Poland's revised stance on Germany's offering of Patriot defense system to Warsaw?
