Real Madrid now have problems in the attack and in defence. With respect to Joselu, the loss of Benzema could only be filled by Kylian Mbappé, and his situation at PSG resembled that of a car stuck in the mud: intention to go somewhere, but spinning their tires. At the back, Thibault Courtois’ unexpected and tragic injury means that he cannot be relied upon this season. Courtois has previously bailed out Real Madrid’s defence on plenty of occasions, and given the lack of trust in Lunin, it seems as though they will be forced into signing another keeper. But, do they spend some cash for a top target that will be a legitimate backup to Courtois in the future, or go for someone like David de Gea?
