"Auditions begin 2016." Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) is a very enthusiastic and optimistic koala who owns a poorly running theater. To pay off his debts and fill the empty halls, he decides to organize a grand singing competition. Buster just manages to scrape together $1,000 as prize money for the competition. However, due to a mistake by his assistant, an old lizard, the flyers say there is $100,000 to be won. Immediately the entire animal world is in turmoil.
