Ms. Jackson is a song by American hip-hop duo OutKast and the second single from their fourth album, Stankonia. The song reached the top of the Billboard 100 in February 2001 and won the Grammy Award for Best Performance by a Rap Duo or Group. The song also reached the top of the charts in Germany and reached second position in the United Kingdom, behind only the song "Whole Again", by the girl group Atomic Kitten
"Ms. Jackson" is the real mother of Erykah Badu, the ex-girlfriend of André 3000 and mother of his son "Seven." The song discusses the problems that disturbances, separations and divorces can befall a couple, and the animosity that a mother-in-law can have towards her ex-husband or her daughter's boyfriend.
The single helped the album's sales following the widespread criticism of the album's first single, "B.O.B.", which failed to enter the Billboard 100 and only reached 69th position on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
The song features portions of "Strawberry Letter 23" by The Brothers Johnson and highlights an altered version and fragments of "Bridal Chorus", from the opera Lohengrin, by German composer Richard Wagner, played on the piano.
