There are eight planets in our solar system. Starting closest to the Sun and moving outward, they are: 1. Mercury: It is the closest planet to the Sun and is the smallest planet in our solar system. 2. Venus: Often referred to as Earth's sister planet, Venus is similar in size but has a thick, toxic atmosphere that makes it the hottest planet in our solar system. 3. Earth: Our home planet, Earth is the only known planet to support life. It has a diverse range of ecosystems and a breathable atmosphere. 4. Mars: Also known as the "Red Planet," Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun. It has a thin atmosphere and is being studied for its potential to harbor life or support human colonization in the future. 5. Jupiter: The largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is a gas giant with a vibrant atmosphere and a series of distinct bands and storms, including the famous Great Red Spot. 6. Saturn: Known for its iconic rings, Saturn is another gas giant. It is the second-largest planet in our solar system and has a complex system of moons. 7. Uranus: Uranus is an ice giant with a unique feature: its axis of rotation is tilted almost parallel to its orbit around the Sun. This gives it uncommon seasons and extreme variations in sunlight. 8. Neptune: The farthest planet from the Sun, Neptune is also an ice giant. It has a deep-blue coloration and is known for its strong winds, including the fastest recorded wind speeds in the solar system. These eight planets, along with their moons, asteroids, and other celestial bodies, make up our solar system.
