Colourful gay parade returns to shores of Rio after 2-year COVID hiatus
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rio de Janeiro LGBTQ+ Pride returned to Copacabana Beach on Sunday, drawing a mixed and colourful crowd of people showing love has no boundaries. The participants dressed in vibrant colours and adorned themselves with face and body paint to show their pride. The participants of the parade were overjoyed by the return of the march that let them represent themselves to the fullest. "It is the day we get freer, we are already free, but today is the day we free ourselves, release the good energy, the energy of peace and joy that everyone has inside," said a participant. The theme of the 27th edition of the parade was "Courage to be happy", emphasising the strength of the LGBTQ+ community in Brazil.
