Giethoorn | The most beautiful and fairytale village

Giethoorn was founded in the 13th century by workers digging trenches to excavate peat in this area. They piled up the excavated peat around the ditch, which then formed small islands which became the basis of this village. The people of Giethoorn village use boats as their main vehicle. Every day, around 2,600 residents of Giethoorn village carry out their daily activities by boat, on foot or by bicycle.
