Gudeg is a typical Indonesian dish which is famous for its deliciousness. This dish is a traditional and typical dish from Yogyakarta and Central Java Province, Indonesia. During its development, people came to know that the famous gudeg came from Yogyakarta, making this city known as Gudeg City. The history of gudeg in Yogyakarta began with the establishment of the Mataram kingdom on the Mentaok pedestal in the Kotagede area around the 1500s. Gudeg actually does not come from the kingdom but comes from the people. In the 19th century, not many people sold gudeg. Gudeg became popular and widely traded in the 1940s when President Sukarno built Gajah Mada University (UGM) until now.
