Saluang is a type of wind music typical of Minangkabau, West Sumatra, Indonesia This musical instrument from West Sumatra also has several types or variants, which are spread across several regions in West Sumatra, namely . Saluang Darek, Saluang Sirompak, Saluang Pauah, and Saluang Panjang. The four types of Saluang have differences in sound and how to play them or different playing techniques. Saluang is about 40 to 60 cm long with a diameter of about 3 cm. The visible difference between a Saluang and a regular flute is the number of holes. In general, a flute has seven holes, while a Saluang only has four holes.
