US vetoes truce resolution: Draft UN resolution to stop fighting shot down

The United States has used its veto power to shoot down a draft resolution at the UN Security Council calling for an immediate end to Israel's war on Gaza. The vote was called after UN secretary general Antonio Guterres invoked the rarely-used Article 99 of the UN charter.
