San Fransico USA 73 Years Ago
San Francisco, officially known as the City and County of San Francisco, is a commercial and cultural center in the northern region of the state of California, United States.
San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding area are centers of global economic activity, arts and sciences, driven by leading universities, high technology, health, FIRE, and professional services sectors.
In 1776, Spanish colonialists built the Presidio San Francisco fortress at the Golden Gate and created a mission, namely Mission San Francisco de Asis, which was named after Francis of Assisi at that place.
The California Gold Rush of 1848 brought rapid growth to the city of San Francisco, increasing the population from 1,000 to 25,000 in one year, and the transformation of what was once a sleepy place into a populous port city making it the largest city on the West Coast at that time between 1870 and 1900, about a quarter of California's population lived in proper cities.
In 1856, San Francisco became a consolidated city-county. After three quarters of the city were destroyed by an earthquake and fire in 1906, San Francisco was immediately rebuilt and became the venue for the Panama - Pacific International Exposition nine years later.
And this was the condition of San Francisco in 1950. In that year, San Francisco had developed with its magnificent buildings.
