The Republic of Karelia is an amazing land of pristine nature, beautiful rivers and landscapes. It is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful regions of Russia, rest here is good in any season. There are about 27,000 rivers and more than 61,000 lakes in Karelia. In the local forests, lakes can even appear and disappear by themselves, they are called lambushki. They joke that if you divide all the lakes by the number of families living in the republic, then you will have one for each!
