Cultural Significance Rendang holds a special position in the culture of the Minangkabau community. Rendang has its own philosophy for the people of Minangkabau in West Sumatra, which is based on the principles of musyawarah (deliberation) and mufakat (consensus), derived from four main ingredients that symbolize the unity of the Minangkabau people. Symbolically, dagiang (beef) represents "niniak mamak" (traditional leaders), karambia (coconut) represents "cadiak pandai" (the intellectual class), lado (chili) represents "alim ulama" (religious scholars), and pemasak (spices) represents the entire Minangkabau community. In Minangkabau tradition, rendang is a dish that must be served at every traditional celebration, such as various Minangkabau traditional ceremonies, feasts, or welcoming honored guests. In Malay tradition, whether in Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, Lampung, Medan, or the Malay Peninsula, rendang is a special dish served at circumcision ceremonies, birthdays, weddings, barzanji (religious recitations), or religious gatherings, such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Origin of Rendang The origin of rendang is traced back to the land of Minangkabau, West Sumatra. For the Minangkabau people, rendang has existed since ancient times and has become a traditional dish served at various ceremonial occasions and in everyday meals. As a traditional dish, rendang is believed to have originated from the first traditional ceremonies held by the Minangkabau people. This culinary art then spread to other Malay cultural regions, from Mandailing, Riau, Jambi, to the neighboring state of Negeri Sembilan, which is inhabited by many Minangkabau migrants. This is why rendang is widely known in both Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula. Historian from Andalas University, Prof. Dr. Gusti Asnan, speculates that rendang became widely spread as Minang people began to migrate and trade in Malacca in the early 16th century. "Because the journey took a long time and involved river travel, rendang might have been the perfect choice as provisions," he said. This is because dried rendang can be preserved for months, making it suitable as provisions for travel or trade. Rendang is also mentioned in classical Malay literature such as Hikayat Amir Hamzah, proving that rendang has been known in Malay culinary art since the 1550s (mid-16th century). here below if you like original video please thin link : https://linktw.in/mUmfoW Please request a video about my region, including its foods, drinks, traditional dances, traditional songs.
