Nitrogen gas execution goes ahead: Alabama uses method on inmate for first time in Alabama

The US state of Alabama has carried out a controversial, first-of-its-kind execution using nitrogen gas. 58-year-old Kenneth Smith was put to death for his role in a 1988 murder.
