They are one of the most important metal bands of all time: Testament from Berkeley, California. In 1982, just a short time after Metallica, the kings of thrash metal from the Bay Area, Testament formed in the same area. The band around the charismatic frontman Chuck Billy plays fast and rock-hard Thrash Metal with melodic mid-tempo parts. From the very beginning, Testament act with a certain seriousness and such a great passion for what they do that their credibility and integrity is never in doubt in the metal scene of the 1980s, which was characterized by many poser groups. The band still has to cope with numerous line-up changes, so that apart from guitarist Eric Peterson, none of the founding members remain. Singer Chuck Billy joined in 1986, but is still featured on all of the band's studio albums. After their debut "The Legacy" they are already touring the USA and Europe with greats like Anthrax, Overkill and Megadeth. Testament's big breakthrough came with their second album "The New Order" from 1988. Testament have sold over 14 million albums over the course of their career. Her socially critical texts deal, among other things, with politics, corruption and many other societal and social issues. After numerous line-up changes and problems within the band, Chuck Billy was diagnosed with seminoma, a nuclear cell tumor, in 2001. His friends then organize the "Thrash of the Titans" benefit concert to raise money for Billy's medical costs. In 2003, Billy officially beat cancer. After a few more difficult years and numerous ups and downs, Testament are now very successful again and are constantly touring around the world.
