Why Russia’s Military Took Up To 72 Hours To Get Approvals For Striking Targets
Stunted by Russian military’s rigidity, strategic blunders, and corruption, Russia was slow to launch blitzes on new targets, as per New York Times. The country's "rigid and centralized" military generally required 48 to 72 hours to amend its intelligence and obtain approval to attack new targets. This long wait to launch an attack on the designated target meant that Ukrainian forces had up to three days to move to different locations. Russia’s strategic missteps were also reportedly compounded by widespread corruption within the Russian military. Corruption in the Russian military, particularly during its Soviet history, is well documented.
