This bird is an anhinga, which is sometimes referred to as a snakebird due its neck and its swimming abilities. However, it's name can be translated loosely to devil bird from its original name in the Brazilian Tupi language. Fear not though - this bird is extremely harmless, unless you are a fish... They hunt swimming underwater, spearing prey with their beak. You can often see their snake-like heads popping out from the water while they take a break from swimming. National Geographic
