Sparkly Hematite after Magnetite pseudomorph from the Payun Volcano, Argentina
A pseudomorph is a cool phenomenon where one mineral replaces another but maintains the shape of the original mineral. The term "pseudomorph" comes from the Greek words "pseudo," meaning false, and "morph," meaning form. In this case Hematite replaced Magnetite and the octahedral form of Magnetite was preserved. Hematite does not naturally form in this shape otherwise.
