Phil Foden was the hero, scoring twice to turn the game around after Marcus Rashford’s opener against the run of play for the hosts. Rashford’s strike in the eighth minute struck the crossbar and deflected down into the goal, leaving Ederson with no chance. We responded positively but had to wait until the 56th minute to level the scores. Foden shimmied in from the right and unleashed a fearsome effort that set off straight into the top corner. Our Academy graduate doubled his tally for the day and put us ahead in the 80th minute after a neat one-two with Julian Alvarez. Nerves were settled and three points sealed in added time when Erling Haaland calmly added our third.
