Walt undergoes follow-up examinations to monitor the progress of his cancer. He is convinced that his disease is getting worse and that he has only a few weeks to live. To ensure that he has enough money for his family, he convinces Jesse to spend four days in the desert "cooking". Jesse is reluctant, as he is starting a romantic relationship with his neighbor Jane and wants to spend time with her, but he finally agrees. After two days, their camper van runs out of battery after Jesse leaves the ignition key activated on the dashboard. After many attempts, without food or water, Walt's ingenious invention enables them to get through.
