Reindeer ( Rangifer tarandus )
Reindeer ( Rangifer tarandus ), also known as caribou in North America, are a species of reindeer distributed around the Earth's polar regions, namely the Arctic, subarctic, tundra, boreal and mountainous regions of northern Europe, Siberia, and North America. Although overall the number of reindeer is still large, several subspecies are rare, and one subspecies has become extinct.
