Vultures

Vultures are birds that eat carrion and animals that have died, either naturally or because they were killed (by themselves, other animals, or humans). Vultures can be found on all continents except Antarctica and Oceania . The characteristic of the vulture is its bald head, no feathers except fine feathers. Research shows that it plays an important role in thermoregulation . Vultures are divided into two groups: Old World vultures and New World vultures . What these two have in common is that they split as a result of convergent evolution . Vultures rarely attack healthy prey , but may injure, or even kill, sick or injured prey. If the prey is too large to eat themselves, they generally wait for the largest vulture to finish eating first. It is not uncommon for battles to occur involving large numbers of vultures. They will stop eating until their cache feels full. They do not carry food to the young vultures in their claws , but rather disgorge it from the crop. The stomach of vultures is very acidic and corrosive so that the bacteria contained in food carcasses ( Botulinum , Cholera , Anthrax , etc.) will not survive passing through the stomach so it is safe for their digestion .
