The Lawler —McDonald 2 fight has become one of the bloodiest and most spectacular in the history of the UFC. From the first round, the fighters exchanged blows, not sparing themselves and the opponent. In the second round, McDonald delivered a sharp elbow blow to Lawler's face, opening a deep wound above his lip. In the third round, McDonald continued to attack Lawler's face and also landed punches on his legs. The fight was also inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in the "Fight" category in April 2023.
