Islam is a monotheistic religion founded in the 7th century by the prophet Muhammad. Muslims believe that Muhammad was the final prophet sent by God to teach people the correct way to live according to His will. The central text of Islam is the Quran, which Muslims believe to be the word of God as revealed to Muhammad. Muslims also follow the teachings and practices of Muhammad as recorded in the hadith. Islam is the second-largest religion in the world, with over 1.8 billion followers. Its teachings emphasize the oneness of God, the belief in angels and prophets, and the importance of social justice. Muslims follow the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the declaration of faith, prayer, charity, fasting, and the pilgrimage to Mecca.
