Prabowo Subianto from Military to Candidate for President of the Republic of Indonesia

Prabowo Subianto has a long history in the military world. He was an important figure in Kopassus in 1996-1998 and served as Commander of Kostrad in 1998, although this position did not last long due to political conditions at that time. After retiring from the military, Prabowo started a career in the business world in Jordan and Germany, then returned to Indonesia to become involved in politics. Prabowo's advancement in the political contestation of the 2024 Election received support from three major parties: the Gerindra Party, the National Mandate Party and the Golkar Party which are gathered in a coalition led by the Gerindra Party. Support from this coalition brought Prabowo to meet the requirements for the number of seats in the DPR to run as a presidential candidate.
