Flora diversity in Himalayas
Flora diversity in Himalayas.
Apart from fauna, the Himalayan region also harbors an extraordinary diversity of flora. As reported by PBS.org, the Himalayan region has grasslands and bushes that can be found between 9,850 and 16,400 feet. This area allows plants to grow because it has cold winters and mild summers. Additionally, at elevations of 8,200 to 13,800 feet, there are forests located in the inner valley area and there are several types of trees, such as pine, hemlock, and spruce. At elevations of 6,600 to 9,800 feet in the eastern region, there are mixed forests containing many conifers, oaks, maples, orchids, mosses, and ferns.
